Serendipity Software announces BlackMagic version 2.5.3
Serendipity Software Pty Ltd, the leader in digital proofing software for the pre-press and packaging industry, today announced BlackMagic version 2.5.3. This release incorporates bug fixes and some nice new features and enhancements.
The most important part of the release is the incorporation of a DataBase Manager. This allows the user to archive and restore a database from inside the software in a matter of seconds. Serendipity Software Engineering Manager Peter Carnell said "Backups are usually the last thing users think of until there is a problem and the PC crashes. Then someone needs BlackMagic up and running again in a matter of minutes. With this easy to use utility, users can archive the database to another location on a regular basis. In the event of failure, the users just have to re-install the software and reload the database using the same utility. You can be back running quality proofs off in a matter of minutes."
One of the drawbacks to backups has always been not knowing what to backup or where to find it. Other uses are Engineers sending a database to a customer to assist with a problem. The customer can also create an archive and mail it to the engineer with ease. The manager also allows you to manage your database by deleting or restoring parts as required.
Other highlights include a new PS RIP that has improved PDF processing and new output drivers that allow the overriding of internal ink limits to give greater control for calibration.
