if a Device Link is assigned to a Pagesetup, all jobs submitted to the Pagesetup will pass through the Device Link so long as the jobs match the colourspace of the Device Link profile.

If the job is in a different colourspace, then it will pass through the match and output profiles assigned to the Pagesetup

Hi all

Is there someone using Device link ICC profiles in Balckmagic? I had created a Device link ICC profile which link the CoatedFOGRA39.icc and my output ICC profile.

I want to Know know What is the correct setup in the ICC profiles selection in the Pagesetup. I mean, you must to select only the device link or you must to combine it with the press and output icc files?

Hi all

I will to install the Serendipity Blackmagic in a Metal Decorating Company Here in Spain. There are two diferent production presses:

- Crabtree Marquess 2 colours
- Fas Ready de 2 colours

And they use 3 diferent coating for the metal sheet media. I want to do an ICC profile for any machine and any coating, that means 6 ICC profiles in total.

I have experience in offset, flexo, newspaper but no in metal. Those guys don't have any density reference, they don't control the density values during printing. Another factor to take into account is the White colour for the media (this is not paper), I think the best option is to use the absolute colorimetric rendering for the colour media simulation in the proof.

If someone has experience in that situation I would aprecciate to get his comments, sugestions, etc. Someone knows what are the density reference values for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black inks in Metal Printing?

Best Regards

Just to give everyone a taste of things to come in Blackmagic version 4...

We ran some Benchmark testing today to compare Imaging and Rendering times from 3.5.09 with 4.0

The tests were run on the same machine:-

Mac Pro
Processor - 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Memory - 6 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
O/S - Mac OS X version 10.5.6

The job tested was a

Page Dimensions	- 1425.01mm x 1359.99mm

The job first submitted to a Pagesetup:-

Output - Epson 7900
Colourspace - CMYK (combined light inks)
Resolution - 720 x 720 dpi
Use ICC	- On
Press ICC - ISOcoated_v2_eci39
Render Intent - Relative

then to a second Pagesetup:-

Output - Epson 7900
Colourspace - CMYK (separate light ink channels)
Resolution - 720 x 720 dpi
Use ICC	- On
Press ICC - ISOcoated_v2_eci39
Render Intent - Relative

Both Pagesetups were tested on version 3.5.09 then on version 4.0

The results speak for themselves...

Is there a way to:

a. Collect 1 bit tif plate files, recolour them from monotone to the correct naming, merge them together (they are the same exact size and resolution) into a halftone composite and then,

b. Create either Low Res pdf which will then be rendered cip3 elsewhere OR can BM render the cip3 data from this mess?

With new jobs, we can make LR_pdf at BM from the page buffer files of our HqRip but the legacy work was(is) not saved out of the rip, only the 1 bit tifs at plate queue for reprinting.

Hi Rene, I know of a client running BM on Windows Server 2003 on ESX with 4 CPU's. Works like a charm!
Licensing is done via a USB anywhere device which is basically USB over IP. Fully supports all USB dongles.
This also allows migration from host to host without interuption to processing.

Hello,

we think about running Blackmagick on Fedora in a VMware ESX Guest.
This seems to be good combination because Fedora and Blackmagick can make use of 4 Virtual CPU wich Windows XP doesn´t.

How can the licensing be done in this case? VMware cannot provide USB Dongles / HASP to the guest OS. Is there a license server available or any other kind of network license management?

Other devices like USB Network Hub http://www.belkin.com/networkusbhub/ or DIGIs AnywhereUSB do not provide Linux drivers. Only Windows and OSX

It is likely the jobs failing are those that are being processed through a Pagesetup which has the Logo turned ON.

During your upgrade process, you may have either deleted/moved the .eps file(s) you had set as your logo, or the Pagesetup may have lost track of the file.

Click on the Logo File button and make sure Blackmagic is looking for the correct file/directory.

Holger,

support for the HP Z6100 was only officially added as of Blackmagic v3.5

However your problem is probably caused by the by an incorrect paper setting on the HP Z6100.

You need to manually set the paper on the printer to be the same as the paper setting you are using in your pagesetup in Blackmagic.

Hello,

today we got our new Printer. HP Z6100.
I downloaded the driver from here, for the HP Z6100, but we can´t use BlackMagic
with this driver. The Display of the Printer say´s: 61:01 error Wrong file format The printer cannot process the job.
Firmware of the Printer is: GG-GG_7.0.0.3
BlackMagic : V3.4

What could we do, to use this Driver?
Now, we use the: Hewlett Packard InkJet (Large / Small format) Driver with the Z6100, to keep working.

Thanks,

Holger

Ps: Sorry for my bad english!

Are you getting the problem when submitting with the ripmonitor? The only thing that can cause this is if 2 jobs in your ripmonitor list have the same internal job id.

Please try turning polling off in the ripmonitor and then back on. If this does not help, please let me know which rip driver you are using for polling so we can try and reproduce it here.
