- a Status bar showing the Calcheck status of the display in relation to the currently selected Press config
- Press configs can be changed instantly via a drop-down in the Status bar
- RGB (Camera) profiles are now selected for viewing RGB jobs and can also be changed via a Status bar drop-down

SoftProof and FlipBook now recognise and display Page 0 in Publications.

Displays application now performs all monitor calibration and verification (Calcheck) functions, and can now perform complete hardware, software and/or self calibration of proofing displays - configuring screen whitepoint, Gamma, and Brightness when available. Manual brightness, whitepoint and ambient measurement option are also available.

Calibrated profiles are automatically saved as the native operating system display profile.

New Displays support options include:

Client Settings are now available via the Preferences option in the Serendipity Client menu on Mac OS X and the Client Settings option in the Application menu on Windows / Linux.

Server and Client 'units' preferences are now separated.

Resume / Pause Processing have been added to the new Server Menu. This option pauses and resumes ALL processing and print queues after the current tasks are completed.

ICC target without Colour Correction has been added to the new Submit menu. This option submits an ICC target disabling all colour correction options (including linearisation and correction curves).

Supported added for Grayscale Output ICC profiles.

Press Ink names and L*a*b* are now extracted from multicolour Press ICC profiles. Incoming jobs with corresponding plate names have plates automatically matched and reordered according the ICC press inks. Remaining plates are treated as spots as per normal.

Note - a Press Ink set assigned manually to a multicolour match ICC profile will take precedence over the automatically extracted ink set.

Thumbnails are now configurable to 3 sizes, a new Small size plus Normal and Large.

Nest option has been added to the Publish panel of Pagesetup. Functions as the option in the Submit window - nests any jobs published directly to the Pagesetup via the Megarip PPD or placed in a drop folder according to the nesting parameters configured in the Output. Used when nesting is not desired as the default option set for the Output.

Mirror render effect has now been added to Slugline, activated via a tickbox in the Slugline effect Edit pop-up. This is useful for jobs being submitted using the Pagesetup Mirror tick (which occurs at imaging) for reverse-side proofing to clear film media.

Fotoba Cut Marks and Registration Marks render effects added to Pagesetup. Both effects are configurable.

Serendipity Blackmagic Image and Serendipity Remote Proof formats now use Packbits as the default compression option.

Support added for grayscale JPEG files.

Percentage based scaling added to the C5 Client Effects options.

Speed and responsiveness improvements made to both Server and Client. This update significantly reduces Client memory use and reduces response time when the the Server is under heavy load. Server startup time also been reduced due to more efficient verification of both existing and pending queued jobs.

Improved Client/Server communication efficiency, making the Client more responsive. Minimum Broadcast Interval default is now 2 seconds. On higher specced systems, optionally set to 0-1 seconds for fastest response times - trial and error may be required.

Minimum Broadcast Interval and Polling Service Refresh in Server Settings no longer require a server restart to take effect.

Default PS RIP memory allocation now 512MB for 32-bit systems and 1GB for 64-bit systems.

System speed-ups for various tasks including rendering and SoftProof zoom/resize/rotation times.

Warning/confirmation message now displayed before changing Server Working Paths.

Asset Queue now functions as a Published Pagesetup on TCP/IP port 9104. Remote computers and third party applications can now print to the Asset Queue using a system print destination set up to print to port 9104 via the Megarip PPD.

Bonjour / Zeroconf network protocol has been added as a connection method for Output destinations

Pagesetups and the Asset Queue are now Published as Bonjour/Zeroconf destinations for Mac OS X / Linux installs, enabling easy network discovery and printing from third party applications.

These replace the megarip.ppd driver for creating system print destinations for publishing Pagesetups.

Bug Fixes

Description

Fix for CMYK Calcheck Chart error caused by CMYK chart patch values not being converted and saved with corresponding Lab values. The result was extremely large ΔE values when measuring the Calcheck Chart due to L*a*b reference values registering as 0,0,0 in the Calcheck application.

Fix for a Studio application bug where one copy of the job was always being printed regardless of the number of copies requested by the user.

L*a*b* mode RGB linearisation chart for the Gretag Eye-One has an extra printed bar after the 100% (white) patch enabling the instrument to read the chart correctly.

Windows LUT based display profiles containing only a perceptual intent table are now recognised as valid display profiles.

JPEGs output by Adobe Photoshop 5 now image and render correctly.

Lab Density Patch values imported into Paper Profile using the Lab text file (Lab Sample order) instrument option now import correctly.

Fixed a bug causing the Server to periodically shut down when under heavy load, falsely reporting a dongle removal.

Fixed a rendering error in which jobs with spot colours submitted to a setup using screen printing mode and logo box would produce spot colour plates of a smaller size, in turn causing empty space to print with noise/random data.

Hour and Minute fields for Polling Refresh Interval in System Settings are now in the correct order.

Fixed a problem causing PDF and Postscript files containing elements using a DeviceRGB, DeviceCMYK or DeviceGray colourspace to render incorrectly under certain conditions. Images defined in these colourspaces now pass directly through imaging and are rendered with more accurate colour.

PDF files containing Optional Content Groups (OCG) now image correctly. Optional content (PDF 1.5) includes sections in a PDF document that can be selectively viewed or hidden by document authors or users, featuring in CAD drawing, layered artwork, maps and multi-language documents.

In some cases, PDF transparency code was imaging PDF registration marks incorrectly (as white) when the rip was swapping to disk. This problem has been corrected.

The CropBox, as set in the PDF file, is now honoured. This means that files with a defined CropBox now render to the correct size with excess areas automatically trimed.

Fixed ripping failures with certain PDF files that contained forms.

Fixed a problem ripping certain PDF 1.6 files that contained blending operators.

Transparency related PDF fixes.

Gradients with transparency related PDF fixes.

Non-printing areas of Studio Assets now rotate correctly when when in cropping mode.

Under certain conditions excessive amounts of memory were being used to hold the job queue. This caused the Server to run out of memory and jobs to fail.

Fixed a bug with printer automatic maintenance functions. Under certain conditions multiple calcheck charts would be submitted. In another case, none were submitted at all.

Corrects an error in the QueueManager list views where if multiple jobs were block-marked, their order changed using a sort column header; certain toolbar buttons would cease to function. e.g. the Submit button in RIPMonitor.

SoftProof Autocrop function now crops correctly.

Automatic margins in printer Paper Settings is now overridden for all Borderless mode enabled Canon printer drivers. Borderless mode now functions correctly.

Fixes to SoftProof Ruler bugs.

Output Maintenance functions have been corrected so as to prevent multiple Auto-Nozzle Checks being submitted.
